In the four ish (wow thats a long time) years since I was actively blogging, my skincare routine and views have changed a bit. I can now see that before I was often purely drawn to a product because of pretty packaging or a brand name. Here are the current products I am using:
Lush Enzymion
I have never had problem skin but had been looking for a cream that is as natural as possible as the idea of putting unnecessary chemicals on my skin did not sit right with me. And so I thought I would try a face cream from Lush, for me, this is by bar the best cream I have ever used and to make it even better Lush are well known for being vegan and ethical. The cream is very light and melts into your skin smoothly without leaving any residue. I find it the perfect balance of moisture without being greasy, and I truly feel like by skin is brighter since using the cream, I use this underneath foundation and in the summer its perfect by itself on fresh skin. The cream isn't scented but naturally smells nice and fresh and the pot is basic and minimal, which ties in with the Lush principals. Once you have finished with your pot you can simply clean it and once you have 5 empty pots take them into the Lush store and they will let you choose a free facemask! I have always found the staff in Lush to be very friendly and helpful to help you choose the right cream or product for your skin type.
The Lush Enzymion cream currently costs £16.95 for 45g at Lush stores in the UK.
Exfoliator I still use the boots microdermabration, review here
Palmers Cocoa Butter - Original
Some things are best left to the classics, and one thing I will never change from is Palmers Cocoa Butter Original Formula, it smells so chocolatey and divine and is the best long lasting body moisturizer I have tried. I use this everyday as an all over body cream, an after sun on holiday and have even used it as a facial moisturizer. I would highly recommend this to anyone, they also do an unscented version for sensitive skin.
Mac Pro longwear Concealer
I used to be a loyal user of the benefit concealer until I converted to MAC for all of my make up needs. The pro longwear concealer has a really wide selection of shades so you will be sure to find the perfect match for you and is very long lasting. My main concern is dark circles and I like the way this covers them. I do wear this under foundation but if I am not wanting to wear a full face of make up but am feeling conscious of dark circles it is very good to use alone, and blends in nicely. The bottle is very small but truly does last for a very long time so it does offer good value for money, it currently retails at £18.50
Tea Tree Oil
This is something that I have been using for a long time, used safely it really is a wonder product! It has so many uses:
- add a drop or 2 to moisturizer, this can help clear up spots on skin, a friend actually saw a major improvement to her skin after trying this
- add to foundation, sometimes I have poured a couple of drops onto my foundation before mixing it and applying it, this thins it out slightly and provides a lighter coverage I find, and is also having the same treating effect as when mixed with your moisturiser
- when I am running a bath I often add a bit, 10 drops max, Tea tree oil has anti bacterial properties so I just feel extra cleansed when I do this!
- I apply it topically if i have a spot or blemish, you do have to be careful doing this as it is a very potent essential oil.
The one in the image is the particular one I buy from Amazon, however there are many alternatives available.
