Louis Vuitton Mini Collection and Bag Review

I have been debating with myself whether to do this post or not as it is not strictly relevant to anything at all however I do love handbags and although I only own 2 Louis Vuitton bags (2 and a half I suppose!) I absolutely love them and am very passionate about them.

I have wanted for forever to own a designer handbag and especially a Louis Vuitton, I think their bags are timeless classics that will never go out of fashion and are totally versatile that I have no problem in justifying the prices to anyone that is dubious about it!.

My first bag is the Louis Vuitton Speedy 40 Bandouliere in Monogram print. I received this as my push present whilst I was pregnant and I was over the moon with it! I choose the larger size of speedy bag as first of all I am a fan of large handbags anyway plus I knew I would be able to also use it as a hand luggage bag or travel bag for short trips. That is also why I decided to go with the bandouliere option (with shoulder straps) and they have definitely proven to come in handy. Here she is when I first unboxed her.

I have not used her as much as i normally would as i am always out with a pushchair and the stokke has a bag attached and i prefer to be as hands free as possible when out with Karmen. But now that she is walking I can start to use my bags more. The times I have used the Speedy it fits soooo much in, I can comfortably use her for an overnight bag for both myself and Karmen and day trips she easily fits a lunchbox with snacks! I also took her as my hand luggage when we visited Cologne, Germany (see here) And had no issue with fitting everything in, so if you are thinking about getting one of these and are maybe debating the size issue, some people feel the 40 is too large, especially for a smaller person, I am 5 foot 2 inches, but i have not found this at all, even when only using it with the top handles. I would say go for the bigger size if this is what you want as it is so invaluable being able to use it as a travel/overnight bag. I would also recommend choosing the bandouliere version of the speedy, there is quite a price difference but it is well worth the extra investment in my opinion!
You can see in the pictures below how the zip and padlock is different to the original Speedy, it is more like the Keepall with the double zips. You can also notice the color difference in the extra strap extension looped on, as this has not been used as much as the regular handles.

She now has a nice patina on her and even got rained on whilst in Germany, I was so worried it would mark the leather and we even visited the Louis Vuitton shop in Cologne to get some expert advice, they told me it should be ok but to cover it with one of Karmens muslin cloths that I had with me luckily! The Speedy 40 Bandoliere is currently priced at £820

Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette MonogramMy second Louis Vuitton purchase was much smaller and was a first Mothers Day present from Karmen to Me (from Me to Me ha ha), and here we have the mini pochette in monogram. I have included a picture next to the speedy so you can see the size.

I bought this as a purse and essentials holder and I have ended up using it for absolutely everything and I take it everywhere. Priced at only £175 this is well worth the money, I have the leather tab engraved with a letter K both for Kim and of course Karmen, as I can imagine her wanting to play with / borrow this when she is a bit older! The leather tab is quite dirty I think rather then patina'd and I think this must be due to it being handled all the time and being put in whichever bag I have with me. I may look into getting this cleaned one day depending on how bad it gets, If anyone has any recommendations on how to do this, please let me know!

The mini pochette can easily fit, cash, credit cards, iPhone, lipgloss and key (without large keyring) and has a D ring chain which you can use to connect to the D ring loop in all of the Louis Vuitton bags and you can also use the bag on its own in 2 different ways, as below:

On my visit to the Louis Vuitton store to purchase the mini pocket I also picked up a luggage tag to use on the speedy as you can see in the pictures above on the bag. They don't always have these in stock so I think I was quite lucky to get one! The mini pochette is currently priced at £175

Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM Damier AzurSo thirdly we have my most recent purchase, The Neverfull MM in Damier Azur. I had lusted for this bag for a very long time and finally decided to treat myself with a work bonus and I am very very happy that I did, it is the perfect summer bag. There are two versions of the Neverfull, the original version which comes alone or the updated version which has a detachable pouch included. I decided to go with the pricer version and get the pouch included as well. I have used the pouch in my other bag as well and it can be used on its own as a clutch for an evening out so again, the extra was well worth the money.

I don't have a picture of the bag when I unboxed it but you can see the handles already have a nice patina on them. This really is an easy go to bag for every occasion and it can be dressed up or down, I think it would be a good choice if you wanted to make your first Louis Vuitton purchase, it is definitely an entry level bag. The only thing that may put some people off is that it does not have a top zip, I don't personally find this a problem as with the attached zip up pouch inside as well as the removable pouch your valuables can easily for zipped away. Sizing is a common query people have when buying a neverfull, In my personal opinion the PM is too small for what I feel the bag is designed for, the GM which is very large, I do like although I do feel it looks more beach bag ish. however if you do have a lot of large items you carry around daily you may like the larger version although the straps are quite thin so I am not sure how comfortable this would be on your shoulder. The Neverfull MM with pouch is currently priced at £710

So this concludes my first handbag post, and I will be very excited when I have some additions that I can post about! Please bare in mind the prices are current for now but Louis Vuitton do have an annual price increase.

Love Kim xxx

My Lip Filler Journey

Here it is as promised - my lip filler journey / experience. Lip fillers are something I’ve always been in 2 minds about. One week I’m thinking Yes! I’m doing it and researching the best practitioners etc and then by the following week I’m having doubts - what if it goes wrong? What if I hate it? What if it ruins my face forever? And so on. So when a good friend of mine embarked on a training course to learn all things beauty including fillers and aesthetics I knew this would fall into my comfort and I would get to finally try it out whilst also supporting my friend. I’m notorious for researching things excessively so I pretty much had in my mind what I wanted to get from the fillers - I wanted as natural as possible, keeping the same shape as my natural lips but just a bit fuller. I specifically didn’t want the ‘duck face’ look and I wanted upper and lower lips to be balanced! My main decision to be made was whether To have 0.5ml or 1ml. On the advice of my friend and from my ex...

Post Natal Depression - a Journey

This will perhaps be the most difficult post to write as it means revisiting old feelings and experiences, however I feel like it is the right time for me to express this and also if someone happens to stumble upon this post and it helps them in anyway no matter how small then that can only be a good thing. I had known for a long time after having my daughter that I did not feel like myself / did not feel 'right' however I would always put this down to other factors mainly resulting in me blaming myself and in turn I would feel worse. Its actually really difficult to know where to begin with this post, and as I am typing I am already trying to think of ways to make it as brief as possible, but this would be missing the point! To summarize, I only actually got diagnosed with Post Natal Depression (sometimes Ante Natal Depression) after my daughter was 2 and a half years old, that is a long time I was suffering and it was fair to say I was at breaking point when I walked into t...

Back to Work - A Working Mum

Shortly after Karmen turned 2 years old I started a part time weekend job, which has now developed into 3 full days during the week. At the beginning I had conflicting feelings about going back to work, which I will go into in a moment, however now I really enjoy it, and it offers a great balance and value to my life. To begin with I had not considered working a job, part time or otherwise whilst Karmen was so young. This was partly due to my beliefs and partly due to the way I was feeling (post natal depression) .  It was a friend who first suggested to me to go for a job, it was something she was currently doing and having been in a similar situation to my own with similar emotions she pushed me into applying and going for it, for this I am truly so grateful. I remember the day of my interview I was incredibly nervous, which would of been totally out of character for the 'old me' to the point where I actually cried as I was getting ready as I had zero confidence in my abi...
